Am I out of pocket for the Consultation?
We deliver the finest care at the most reasonable cost to our patients; therefore payment is due at the time of your initial consultation.
After your consultation, you will be issued with a receipt which can be used to claim a Specialist Consultation rebate from Medicare. If you provide us with your Medicare Card details on the day in most cases we can process this transaction through to Medicare for you.
-
Can I receive quotes over the phone before the consultation?
We are happy to provide an approximate quote for common procedures such as implants and removal of teeth or wisdom teeth over the phone. For more complicated procedures a consultation appointment will be required with Dr Webber.
-
How long will my consultation last?
Depending on the level of complexity, the consultation and treatment co-ordinating will last between 20-40mins.
-
Can I have a consultation and treatment on the same day?
If you have travelled a distance, have an urgent case, or have time constraints, Dr Webber can, on occasion, perform treatment on the same day as the consultation. This issue needs to be raised with the staff during the time of booking the appointment to allow sufficient time to be put aside for Dr Webber. It also depends on whether the procedure is straight forward and can be performed in the rooms under local anaesthetic. Medications taken can sometimes have an impact on whether treatment can be done on the day also. Please bring a list of all current medications to your appointment. Dr Webber will ultimately make this decision at the time of consultation.
-
Am I required to pay upfront for my surgery?
All surgical fees are required to be paid prior to the procedure. This process will be explained during your initial consultation appointment as well as all payment options offered.
-
Do I need to contact the Hospital and Anaesthetist?
No. We will contact and notify both the Hospital and Anaesthetist for you after the initial consultation. They will then contact you for payment prior to the procedure. The necessary paperwork will be completed during your consultation and a checklist will be given to you. If you fail to hear from the Hospital or Anaesthetist, you will have the necessary phone numbers to call them prior to the procedure. Any concerns or questions can be addressed by our friendly staff at Gold Coast OMS.
-
How do I claim from my Private Health Insurer?
After your surgery, you will be issued with a receipt of service listing the date, items numbers and description of services supplied by Dr Webber. This can then be used to claim the surgical items from your Health Fund. Dr Webber does not deal directly with any of the Health Insurers and so, it is the responsibility of the patient to make their own claims. You will receive a separate receipt to claim on, directly from the anaesthetist (if treatment done in Hospital under a general anaesthetic).
-
Do I need to see Dr Webber again after the surgery?
Dr Webber will always schedule a follow up appointment if he feels it is necessary to review you again. For wisdom teeth, general extractions, implants and soft tissue procedures this is not normally necessary and our staff will contact you in the post-operative period to ensure healing is progressing well. If you have any concerns however, you should not hesitate to contact the practice on 07 5527 8858.
-
If I don’t have Private Health Insurance can I still be treated?
Absolutely! You can most certainly be treated by Dr Webber if you don't have Private Health Insurance. All surgical fees with be given in the form of a quotation during the initial consultation, including Hospital and General Anaesthetic(Anaesthetist) fees if appropriate. Dr Webber can also, on many occasions and case permitting, perform your surgery under a Local Anaesthetic. This will avoid Hospital and Anaesthetist fees and can be a more financially viable option for many patients.
-
Can I be treated with “laughing gas” and local anaesthetic instead of going to hospital?
Most definitely, as long as Dr Webber deems the procedure possible to be performed under a Local Anaesthetic. This will save on Hospital and Anaesthetist fees and can be a much more financially viable option for a lot of patients. "Happy Gas" (Nitrous Oxide) can be used in combination with the Local Anaesthetic to relax patients and alleviate anxiety.
